Warmly received and looked after
On our 2-week tour of Scotland by car we used a total of 11 accommodations (1 hotel, 4 guesthouses and 6 B&B). On the way there were three of us with the adult son, so each had 1 double and 1 single room. The general impression should be divided into 2 classes: Friendly and communicative or rather business hosts.
• This is clearly in the “warm” category
We were quartered in the annex and were warmly welcomed and looked after. A homemade fruitcake completes the gastronomic offer of a great breakfast.
Room small but clean.

Neither fish nor meat
I admit: Based on the good reviews I expected otherwise!
It is a typical Scottish townhouse that has been converted into a bed and breakfast - but in my opinion (!) absolutely loveless! The impression is that as many rooms (= turnover) as possible had to find space here on as little space as possible.
Correspondingly tiny are the rooms that lack any charm and individuality - lovelessly thrown together furniture, all somehow old and worn out. There were strange shampoos, shower gels and cleaning products in the bathroom that seemed like a previous tenant had forgotten them. Unlike all the other rooms we had on our holiday, there was no proper blackout - due to the early dawn at this time of year it was daylight in the room from four in the morning.
Advertising is made with the fact that the owner was a chef and the breakfast accordingly special - but this special feature has not been revealed to us.
The owner was friendly but far from warmth. Unfortunately, he and his accommodation lacked both the family impression of a classic bed and breakfast and the professionalism of a hotel. In that respect, unfortunately, failed.
The only positive was the one-hand mixer in the bathroom.

Takes property and gives away to charity
Don't leave anything behind they won't tell you.
Myself and my son stayed on a visit to Aberdeen University 6th October
The hotel is Old and dated. Looks tired and not very secure. Not to mention the dog is in the kitchen where they cook food, surely not hygenic
However my problem is this. My son 18, unfortunately left behind a birthday present, namely a pair of expensive shoes. No phone call or correspondence from the place about property being left behind. No, they took them to a charity shop !!! Any decent person would see that the shoes haven't even been worn and were brand new and have the common decency as a business owner to contact the person and say "do you realise these were left behind?" I would have paid to have them returned.
Disgusting behaviour from 8.4 star??? I don't think so

Dear customer, it is unfortunate that you feel this way about our guest house, but for the record, this is a very busy, family-run guest house. Once the rooms are cleaned by our staff, we put all left belongings aside safely and securely for 2 weeks until they are claimed. It is not possible for our cleaner to remember what is what or which room it belongs to, but that is why we keep them for a period until the person responsible comes forward to claim their belongings.
Just like in many gyms and public places where there is a notice that we are not responsible for your valuable posessions. Since FIVE weeks lapsed before you emailed us yesterday, the shoes were donated to charity. You did not contact us the next day or within the week.
And we think it is unreasonable for you to mention our dog in the kitchen. It is publicly advertised that we are a dog-friendly guest house and she sits quietly on her doggy bed away from any food preparation. Additionally. she is loved by many guests who see her and greet her. There's many dog-friendly cafe's- would you call that unhygenic? You clearly didn't feel this way 5 weeks ago and now you're writing a bad review because you're dissapointed about the shoes.
Also, it is a guest house with pictures advertising how it looks - if you want modern and fancy - go to a 5- star hotel. This is a family-run, COSY bed and breakfast with many excellent reviews and repeat customers. We take pride in the environment here and do not aspire to be overly modern - that's the appeal of guest houses for many.

Dated and overrated
The rooms were very dated.
We were in a family room but there was only one chair to sit on.
The room was also very cold.
Parking can be an issue as you cannot park in the nearby streets if the football is on, we ended up being parked about a 1/4 of a mile away.
Breakfast very disappointing, the bacon was so crispy it was inedible.

Comfort, cleanliness and Aberdeen hospitality at its best
This was a great b and b experience. Clean, comfortable and - above all - kind! William and Geraldine treat guests like family, while very respectful of the need for space and privacy. They try to help in every way, no matter how busy they are.
The breakfasts are superb and the room was exceptionally well- appointed.
Alba is handy for the university and not far from Pittodrie Stadium, with a wee walk to the beach. Bus stops each way are very close so you can get into the centre of the city or out to Bridge of Don and beyond.
Amazing facilities for travellers with lots to fit in to each day, but in need of comfort and secure accommodation in between.
